Some of the solutions we have provided to clients recently are;

  • Full outsourcing
  • Low cost e-shops
  • Content Management
  • Site promotion
  • Project management
  • In-house training

project managerProject Management

Our larger web site projects are normally managed using formal project management principles and tools. Since the time limiting factor for site deployment is normally the provision of content material by the client we are quite happy to project manage this activity for you too. This may be useful if you do not have the resource or expertise to do this in-house.

For very large projects we normally follow the PRINCE2 system, the UK Government sponsored system for IT projects.

Web Design

Wensley House Limited maintains its own web design studio WebMaestro which undertakes the design and construction of all of our client’s web sites. WebMaestro has a comprehensive range of capabilities and can create a site for any purpose.

The development of some content materials e.g. audio and visual media, professional logo design and complex animations, if not available from our client, are contracted out to specialist providers.

All our sites are designed and constructed to meet the highest standards including programming and accessibility standards. Read more about accessibility issues.

web hosting

Web Hosting

We will determine the most appropriate web server package for you, balancing the requirements for reliability, functionality and cost;

The server requirements specification will be driven by the client’s requirements;

  • Site size and complexity
  • Required functionality e.g. databases, server side scripting, content management system, shopping cart)
  • Expected bandwidth
  • Reliability requirement (e.g. backup, managed hosting 24/7)
  • Shared or dedicated hosting
  • Linux or Microsoft platform
  • SSL certification for secure transactions
  • Email requirements (number of POP3 accounts, Web Outlook, MS Exchange)

We only host our sites with major UK based ISP (Internet Service Providers) which have a proven track record for reliability and value for money. Our two, principle ISPs are 1and1 Internet and Namesco.

Training session

Training

For web sites which the client desires to take responsibility for the updating of site content, e.g. content management systems, a full training package, customised for the specific application, will be provided. This will include on-site training for administrators and content providers and editors and detailed documentation.

On-going Support

We can provide an on-going support package tailored to suit your individual need and budget. This can range from total outsourcing of all site support activity to a simple annual review.

Elements that can normally be included in an annual support contract include;

  • Page content updating (agreed number of hours per month, quarter, year etc)
  • Review and reporting of site visitor statistics and recommendations (monthly)
  • Review of Search Engine ranking performance and recommendations (quarterly)
  • Search Engine submission after each major content change
  • Training of new staff

For a typical web site implementation we would anticipate the following process;

  • The creation of a User Requirements Specification (URS)
  • Supply and acceptance of our quotation
  • Agreement to business terms and conditions
  • Signed contract and (in some cases) an initial payment to cover non-recoverable development costs and service payments
  • Development of the project plan identifying who is responsible for the production and provision each requirement e.g. content materials, download files, corporate identity logos etc. and an agreed timescale for delivery.
  • Site design (look, feel and navigation) and approval
  • Page population with content and media

    Site testing
  • Site publication and formal launch
  • Check delivered site against URS
  • Final Payment
  • Set up on-going support contract.
