Wensley
House Limited uses a proven web site development
life cycle model for each web site design project. Our
web site design methodology is easily adapted to each
new web site or web site re-design. As a result, Wensley
House Limited developments are effcient and speedy leading
to better web sites, decreased costs, and happier clients.
The web design life cycle consists of nine phases: planning,
specification, prototype design, review, development,
testing, release, search engine optimization, and maintenance.
Each segment of the web development life cycle plays an
important role in the final web site and is outlined in
more detail below.
The planning phase is the fundamental process of understanding why the web site is required and what it is expected to do. There are many reasons why a web site should be published e.g.
During the specification phase we determine what the web site will look like and what information will be presented. This process usually happens in a face-to-face meeting where Wensley House Limited sit down with the client and review their requirements and expectations. We often review competitor web sites, review web design layouts, and determine the target audience. At the end of the analysis phase Wensley House Limited will understand the purpose, the web sites requirements, and will have a general idea of web designs.
During the design phase Wensley House Limited will create up to three web site design prototypes. A web site prototype is a non-functional image (i.e. web site menus are not functional, hyperlinks are not linked, etc.) that the client will then review and request web site design changes. Each web site design prototype will take into account the client’s web design preferences that Wensley House Limited gathered from the client during the web site specification phase. Web site design prototypes are place into a simple HTML page that clients can call up in a browser and view like they would in a full working web design.
At this point the the final prototype designs will be reviewed and the required site design will be agreed.
Once a web site design has been chosen by the client Wensley House Limited will begin the web site development. This is often the most time consuming phase..
The web site development has been completed and it is time for testing. Testing is done to ensure the web site is fully functional and there are no errors and will normally involve the participation of the client and, ideally, a site testing panel comprising typical site users.
Testing has completed and the web site is ready to be released to the world. At this point we will either move the web site to its permanent web host or transfer it to the client’s web host. Wensley House Limited will also submit your web site to all the major search engines and start the web traffic monitoring.
After the web site has been visible to the public for a few weeks/months, data will have been collected to assess the need for additional search engine optimization (SEO). Web statistics will shared with the client and refined list of keywords is developed with the client. We will then take the revised keywords and phrases and embed them into the web pages to optimise the web pages for search engines.
After the site is published, there will be information within the web site that requires updating. There may also be new web pages or new information that needs to be added to the web site.
Having a predefined web design methodology helps Wensley
House Limited provide it clients with superior web sites
that not only meet the customer’s requirement but meet
the customer’s budget too. If you have any further questions
